How long does it take for pregabalin to take effect?
Disease description:
After the herpes zoster blisters subside, I continue to experience severe, persistent pain. My doctor prescribed pregabalin, and I’ve been taking it for nearly a week, but I haven’t noticed significant improvement. How long does it typically take for pregabalin to become effective?
Pregabalin typically takes about one week to take effect. However, because individual absorption rates vary, the onset of therapeutic effects may differ from person to person; therefore, patients should assess their personal response based on their own absorption capacity. Additionally, patients must not discontinue the medication arbitrarily during treatment. Instead, they should undergo follow-up evaluation at a hospital, after which the physician will adjust the dosage or treatment plan according to the patient’s clinical condition. Self-initiated discontinuation of the drug may lead to adverse symptoms.
