Normal Values for Thyroglobulin Antibodies

Dec 21, 2021 Source: Cainiu Health
Disease description:

I’ve been feeling unwell recently, with generalized weakness. During a medical examination at the hospital, my thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb) level was found to be 4100 IU/mL. My doctor mentioned that this value is somewhat elevated. What is the normal reference range for thyroglobulin antibodies?

Thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb) level is <10 IU/mL. Currently, a significantly elevated thyroglobulin antibody level strongly suggests the presence of either a thyroid nodule or Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, both of which pose substantial health risks. Further evaluation is therefore necessary, including thyroid ultrasound. If a thyroid nodule is identified, surgical excision may be recommended as a treatment option to control the disease and facilitate recovery.
