Feeling nauseous after drinking tea may result from gastrointestinal irritation caused by the tea. If halitosis (bad breath) is also present, it could be due to intestinal inflammation, “excess internal heat” (a traditional Chinese medicine concept), or indigestion. In such cases, appropriate oral medications may be considered. If you wish to continue drinking tea, avoid prolonged and excessive consumption, as tea contains theophylline, which may further irritate the gastrointestinal tract.
