What is the normal range for diastolic blood pressure?
Disease description:
Today, while I was out shopping for groceries, my mother-in-law went to the pharmacy to have her blood pressure measured and found it to be slightly low. She would like to know the normal range for diastolic (low) blood pressure.
Under normal circumstances, a person’s diastolic blood pressure should range between 70–90 mmHg, and systolic blood pressure should range between 110–140 mmHg. Blood pressure values outside this range—either too high or too low—indicate potential health problems: low diastolic pressure is undesirable, while persistently high systolic pressure increases the risk of cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. Therefore, it is essential to actively manage and control blood pressure in daily life, maintaining stable emotional well-being and consistent, healthy lifestyle and dietary habits. Dietarily, one should follow a low-fat, low-protein, low-sugar, and low-salt regimen.
