Amoxicillin, a commonly used penicillin-class antibiotic, exhibits interindividual variability in its metabolism. Typically, the plasma half-life of amoxicillin in humans is approximately 1–1.5 hours—meaning that one hour after administration, its blood concentration declines to roughly half the initial level. In patients with normal hepatic and renal function, amoxicillin is generally completely metabolized and eliminated from the body within about 6–8 hours. However, it is important to note that patients with impaired liver function or urinary tract obstruction may experience delayed drug metabolism and excretion. To ensure both efficacy and safety, amoxicillin should be used rationally under the guidance of a physician. Additionally, patients are advised to maintain adequate hydration and consume ample vegetables and fruits to support drug metabolism. Alcohol consumption should be avoided for at least one week following amoxicillin administration.
