Creatine kinase isoenzyme (CK-MB) is a specific biomarker of myocardial injury; an elevated level indicates myocardial damage. Primary myocardial injury diseases significantly affect the body and, in severe cases, can lead to sudden death; therefore, identifying the underlying cause of myocardial injury is the first priority. The most common causes encountered clinically are inflammatory and ischemic injuries. Further diagnostic evaluation is typically recommended, including coronary angiography, complete blood count (CBC), and C-reactive protein (CRP) testing.
