What Causes Red Spots on the Skin?
Skin—the body’s largest organ—is influenced by numerous factors and may occasionally develop red spots. Specific causes include the following:

① Skin Allergy
Red spots accompanied by erythema, fever, or respiratory distress may indicate a skin allergic reaction. Upon exposure to an allergen, numerous small red spots may appear on the skin. Some patients experience no pruritus, while others suffer intense itching. These lesions blanch upon pressure and typically respond well to topical corticosteroid therapy. Prompt medical evaluation is recommended to prevent potential gastrointestinal mucosal irritation and associated adverse effects.
② Endocrine Imbalance
Habits such as frequent alcohol consumption, chronic sleep deprivation, and consumption of spicy foods can disrupt hormonal secretion, potentially leading to the appearance of small red spots on the skin. In most cases, these spots resolve spontaneously after adjustment of lifestyle and sleep patterns over time.
③ Subcutaneous Hemorrhage
Red spots caused by subcutaneous hemorrhage typically appear bright red initially and gradually fade to brown or tan over several days—indicating extravasation of blood beneath the skin. As the blood clots and breaks down, it turns brown; however, these spots usually resolve spontaneously without specific intervention. If recurrent episodes occur or if the spots persist without fading, prompt medical consultation is advised for professional evaluation and management.
