What causes pain beside the bridge of the nose?
Pain beside the nasal bridge may be caused by folliculitis. The skin of the nose contains multiple hair follicles; when these become infected with bacteria, folliculitis commonly develops, resulting in pain adjacent to the nasal bridge. In such cases, local skin cleansing can help improve the condition of the hair follicles and enhance cleanliness. Additionally, patients may take oral antibiotics to control symptoms.
Pain beside the nasal bridge may also stem from nasal inflammation. Conditions such as nasal furuncles (boils) or bacterial infection within the nasal cavity can likewise cause pain adjacent to the nose. In these instances, topical application of an antibiotic ointment inside the nasal cavity may help alleviate symptoms.
During treatment, patients should pay close attention to their diet: avoid spicy, stimulating, raw, cold, or greasy foods; instead, opt for a light, bland diet and drink plenty of water. Maintaining adequate hydration supports the therapeutic process.
