Introduction
A stabbing pain in the nasal bridge may result from inflammation or infection of the dorsal nasal region, requiring oral antibiotics and topical application of antibiotic ointment to the affected skin area. Spicy and irritating foods should be avoided in the diet. With appropriate treatment over time, symptoms typically improve. Alternatively, the pain may originate from inflammation of the nasal mucosa—such as that associated with rhinitis, sinusitis, or nasal mucosal inflammation.

A stabbing or sharp pain over the nasal bridge may result from one of the following two conditions: 1) inflammation of the nasal dorsum (back of the nose); or 2) inflammation of the nasal mucosa. Specific treatment approaches are outlined below:

1) Inflammation of the nasal dorsum: Infection in this area can cause sharp pain over the nasal bridge. Treatment involves oral antibiotics and topical application of antibiotic ointment to the affected skin. Patients should avoid spicy and irritating foods. With appropriate treatment, symptoms typically improve over time.

2) Inflammation of the nasal mucosa: This type of inflammation can also cause pain over the nasal bridge. Management includes local intranasal medication (e.g., nasal drops) combined with oral antibiotics to control mucosal inflammation.

In daily life, avoid frequently picking the nose with fingers, as this may rupture capillaries in the nasal mucosa and lead to epistaxis (nosebleeds). Nasal secretions can be cleared using normal saline or mild saline solution irrigation to maintain cleanliness and moisture of the nasal mucosa. Patients should drink plenty of warm water, stay warm to prevent colds, and avoid touching the affected area with hands, as this may exacerbate pain. Diet should be light and easily digestible; avoid raw, cold, spicy, irritating, or greasy foods. Ensure adequate rest and sleep, and abstain from smoking, alcohol, and strong tea.
