Introduction
In advanced colorectal cancer, patients may exhibit changes in bowel habits, hematochezia (blood in the stool), and symptoms of intestinal obstruction. An abdominal mass may be palpable. Due to extensive nutrient depletion during the disease course, systemic manifestations such as weight loss and malnutrition may also occur. In advanced colorectal cancer, malignant cells may metastasize to other organs.

Colitis is a chronic disease characterized by inflammatory reactions in the colon triggered by various factors. Its primary symptoms include diarrhea and abdominal pain of varying severity following disease onset. In severe cases, some patients may pass mucoid stools or purulent, bloody stools. This condition is prone to recurrence.

Symptoms of Advanced Colon Cancer

In advanced colon cancer, patients may experience changes in bowel habits, hematochezia (blood in stool), and symptoms of intestinal obstruction. An abdominal mass may also be palpable. Due to extensive nutrient depletion during the disease course, systemic manifestations such as weight loss and malnutrition commonly occur. Additionally, as cancer cells metastasize to other organs in late-stage disease, patients may develop metastatic symptoms—including lymphadenopathy and hepatic pain.

Colon cancer has multiple etiologies. Common risk factors include colonic polyps, chronic colitis, long-term consumption of spicy foods, excessive alcohol intake, and severe constipation—all of which may contribute to the development of colon cancer. Surgical resection of the affected segment of the colon is generally recommended, followed by adjuvant chemotherapy and traditional Chinese medicine to help prevent extensive metastasis and improve disease control. Patients experiencing any discomfort should seek prompt medical evaluation.

Patients are advised to adopt healthy lifestyle habits—avoiding spicy and irritating foods, quitting smoking, and limiting alcohol consumption. We hope this information proves helpful to you.
