Introduction
If a patient presents with traumatic tinnitus, they should first visit the otolaryngology department of a hospital for otoscopic examination to determine whether tympanic membrane perforation is present. If no tympanic membrane perforation is found and the trauma is unlikely to damage the cochlea, ossicles, or other ear structures, specific treatment is typically unnecessary; the tinnitus symptoms usually gradually improve within approximately one to two weeks.

In daily life, many people experience tinnitus. Due to persistent or intermittent tinnitus, patients often become highly agitated and anxious. These negative emotions can exacerbate tinnitus symptoms, creating a vicious cycle; tinnitus may also lead to hearing loss. So, how can tinnitus be stopped?

  How to Stop Tinnitus

If a patient presents with trauma-induced tinnitus, they should first visit the otolaryngology (ENT) department of a hospital for otoscopic examination to determine whether tympanic membrane perforation is present. If no perforation is found and the trauma has not damaged the cochlea, ossicles, or other ear structures, specific treatment is usually unnecessary—the tinnitus typically improves gradually within approximately one to two weeks. However, if tympanic membrane perforation is confirmed, the need for tympanoplasty (eardrum repair) or tympanic membrane reconstruction surgery depends on the size of the perforation.

Tinnitus may result from neurasthenia, acute exposure to intense noise or chronic/repeated noise-induced damage, ototoxic medications—including certain antibiotics—as well as cervical disorders, swelling, pain, or other neck-related conditions. It is recommended that patients first undergo medical evaluation at a hospital to identify the precise underlying cause, followed by targeted treatment—this approach facilitates faster recovery.

Patients are advised to protect their ears in daily life and avoid consuming spicy or irritating foods. We hope this information proves helpful to you.
