Introduction
Whether Zuguang Powder can treat tinea pedis depends on the type of tinea pedis. If the tinea pedis is of the macerated or vesicular type—both commonly associated with hyperhidrosis of the feet—Zuguang Powder is generally unsuitable for treatment. Using Zuguang Powder in such cases may cause excessive desquamation of keratinized skin, leading to skin erosion on the feet and potentially secondary bacterial infection.

Foot Light Powder is a powdered medication containing salicylic acid, benzoic acid, matrine, boric acid, and talcum powder. It is commonly used to treat various foot-related conditions and demonstrates good therapeutic effects for foot odor, excessive foot sweating (hyperhidrosis), foot itching, and tinea pedis (commonly known as “athlete’s foot”). So, can Foot Bright Powder treat tinea pedis?

Can Foot Bright Powder Treat Tinea Pedis?

The efficacy of Foot Bright Powder in treating tinea pedis depends on the clinical type of the condition. For patients with the macerated or vesicular types of tinea pedis—both typically associated with hyperhidrosis—Foot Bright Powder is generally not recommended. Its use may cause excessive desquamation of keratinized skin layers, leading to skin erosion and potentially secondary bacterial infection. Conversely, Foot Bright Powder may be suitable for patients with the hyperkeratotic (scaling) type of tinea pedis. When applied, it promotes significant keratin shedding; following this exfoliation, topical antifungal ointments applied to the heels yield enhanced therapeutic outcomes.

However, certain antifungal agents possess astringent and keratolytic properties that help alleviate tinea pedis symptoms, though complete eradication remains challenging. In Western medicine, tinea pedis is classified as a dermatophytic fungal infection. Currently, the most commonly prescribed topical antifungals in clinical practice are terbinafine hydrochloride gel and naftifine-ketoconazole cream. Both exhibit high efficacy against tinea pedis and carry minimal side effects. For cases presenting with vesicles on the soles and scaling/itching on the feet, combination therapy with oral antifungals—such as terbinafine hydrochloride tablets or itraconazole capsules—is recommended, administered for 2–4 weeks. All such medications must be used strictly under physician supervision.

During treatment, patients should avoid spicy, pungent, fried, and other irritating foods, and must abstain from smoking and alcohol consumption. Maintaining a light, bland diet is highly advisable. We hope this information proves helpful to you.
