Introduction
Headache following excessive sun exposure may result from prolonged sun exposure, heatstroke, or elevated blood pressure. Prolonged sun exposure often disrupts the body’s thermoregulatory function and may lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances, potentially causing heatstroke. Individuals with preexisting conditions such as cerebral vascular stenosis or arteriosclerosis may also experience symptoms like dizziness and headache after intense sun exposure.

Headache following sun exposure may result from prolonged sun exposure, heatstroke, elevated blood pressure, or other causes.

1. Prolonged Sun Exposure

If sun exposure is excessive and ambient temperature is high, thermoregulation may become impaired, leading to symptoms such as dizziness and headache—hence the occurrence of headache after intense sun exposure.

2. Heatstroke

Extended sun exposure raises body temperature, prompting profuse sweating to dissipate heat. Without timely rehydration and electrolyte replacement, dehydration and electrolyte imbalances may develop, resulting in heatstroke—commonly accompanied by dizziness and headache.

3. Elevated Blood Pressure

Sun exposure alters systemic metabolic activity, potentially causing vasodilation and increased blood pressure. Individuals with preexisting conditions such as cerebral vascular stenosis or atherosclerosis are especially prone to experiencing dizziness and headache after sun exposure.

Given the multiple potential causes of post-sun-exposure headache, prompt medical evaluation is recommended to identify the underlying cause and initiate appropriate, physician-guided treatment.
