Introduction
In healthy individuals, normal blood glucose levels after meals typically range between 3.9 and 7.8 mmol/L. Levels between 7.8 and 11.1 mmol/L generally indicate impaired glucose tolerance. For people with diabetes, post-meal blood glucose should usually be controlled below 10 mmol/L. If levels exceed 10 mmol/L, it indicates poor blood glucose control.

The normal blood glucose level after eating depends on individual circumstances. The normal postprandial blood glucose values vary among different populations, such as healthy individuals and those with diabetes.

Post-meal blood glucose is typically measured starting from the first bite of food and continuing for 2 hours after finishing the meal. In healthy individuals, the normal postprandial blood glucose level usually ranges between 3.9 and 7.8 mmol/L. Levels between 7.8 and 11.1 mmol/L generally indicate impaired glucose tolerance. A value exceeding 11.1 mmol/L often suggests diabetes. For people with diabetes, the target post-meal blood glucose level is generally below 10 mmol/L. Values above 10 mmol/L indicate poor blood glucose control.

Individuals with high blood glucose should manage their diet by avoiding high-sugar foods and engage in appropriate physical exercise to prevent sustained increases in blood sugar. Diabetic patients may, under medical supervision, use antidiabetic medications such as metformin or acarbose for treatment.
