Is a meningioma on the right side serious?
Right-sided meningioma is not particularly severe.
Meningioma is a relatively common type of primary brain tumor. Most meningiomas are benign and can have a good recovery after treatment. Even some malignant meningiomas can extend the patient's lifespan with appropriate treatment. Without effective treatment, benign meningiomas may lead to various neurological dysfunctions and potentially cause increased intracranial pressure, which could be life-threatening. Untreated malignant meningiomas significantly reduce survival probability.
After diagnosis, patients can undergo surgical treatment under medical guidance, such as total tumor resection or subtotal tumor resection. If surgery cannot completely remove the tumor, postoperative radiotherapy is recommended to help reduce the risk of recurrence or regrowth. Additionally, antiepileptic medications such as carbamazepine or sodium valproate may be used as directed by a physician to prevent seizures. If surgical or radiation treatments are ineffective, chemotherapy drugs such as temozolomide may be prescribed under medical supervision to control tumor progression and improve symptoms.
