Introduction
Treatment of scrotal eczema depends on the morphology and severity of the skin lesions. For mild cases, non-hormonal anti-inflammatory agents such as bucolome cream, tacrolimus ointment, or pimecrolimus cream may be selected. For more severe or acute cases, wet compresses with normal saline or boric acid solution should first be applied, followed by the use of hydrocortisone butyrate.

Scrotal eczema is the most common type of eczema, localized to the skin of the scrotum. It sometimes extends to the area around the anus and, in a few cases, may spread to the penis. This condition causes intense itching and the rash often presents with polymorphic changes. So, what ointments are more effective for treating scrotal eczema?

What Ointments Are More Effective for Scrotal Eczema?

Treatment of scrotal eczema depends on the morphology and severity of the skin lesions. For mild cases, non-hormonal anti-inflammatory ointments such as bucladesam cream, tacrolimus ointment, or pimecrolimus cream can be used. For more severe or acute cases, initial treatment involves wet compresses with normal saline or boric acid solution, followed by application of weak-potency corticosteroid creams such as hydrocortisone butyrate or mometasone furoate cream. For chronic, hypertrophic scrotal eczema, medium-potency corticosteroid creams combined with non-hormonal anti-inflammatory agents are recommended.

Scrotal eczema is an allergic reaction characterized by diffuse redness and swelling of the scrotal skin, accompanied by severe itching. After scratching or friction, erythematous patches, papules, and blisters may rupture, leading to erosion with abundant pale yellow exudate, some of which dries into pale yellow crusts.

Ensure adequate rest and maintain good personal hygiene. Antiseptic washes can be used for cleaning. Seek evaluation and treatment at a reputable medical facility, and avoid spicy and irritating foods in daily diet. We hope this information helps you. Wishing you good health and happiness!
