Introduction
The normal values for the left ventricle are data obtained from color Doppler echocardiography, including left ventricular diameter, wall thickness, and left ventricular ejection fraction. Left ventricular diameter: typically ranges between 37–52 mm; a diameter exceeding 52 mm may indicate left ventricular enlargement. Wall thickness: the left ventricular wall on ultrasound consists of two parts—the interventricular septum and the posterior wall of the left ventricle.

The left ventricular outflow tract is divided into the outflow and inflow portions. Some patients are found during hospital examinations to have abnormalities in the left ventricular outflow tract. So, what is the normal value for the left ventricular outflow tract?

Normal Values of the Left Ventricular Outflow Tract

Normal values for the left ventricle refer to measurements obtained from color Doppler echocardiography, including left ventricular diameter, wall thickness, and left ventricular ejection fraction. The left ventricular internal diameter typically ranges from 37 to 52 mm. A diameter exceeding 52 mm may indicate left ventricular enlargement. Echocardiographic assessment of the left ventricular wall generally includes examination of the interventricular septum and the posterior wall of the left ventricle. The normal thickness of both the interventricular septum and the posterior wall is usually between 6 and 11 mm. A thickness greater than 10 mm may suggest left ventricular wall thickening.

Left ventricular ejection fraction refers to the percentage of blood pumped from the left ventricle into the systemic circulation with each contraction. The normal range is generally 60%–80%. With each contraction, more than half of the blood present in the ventricle should be ejected. An ejection fraction below 60% indicates reduced left ventricular systolic function.

If all other parameters are within normal limits—including assessments of the aortic valve, mitral valve, and left ventricular diastolic function—the left ventricle is considered normal. Therefore, it is recommended to consult a cardiovascular surgeon for a comprehensive evaluation of your overall health condition, based on which the need for surgery can be determined.
