Introduction
It is acceptable to consume a moderate amount of freshwater shrimp for individuals with thyroid nodules. However, attention should be paid to foods high in iodine, such as seaweed, kelp, and seafood; their intake should be reduced. Spicy and irritating foods should also be limited. The majority of clinically detected thyroid nodules are benign. If there are no clinical symptoms, regular observation may be an appropriate option. During the observation period, one should maintain proper dietary habits.

In coastal cities, seafood is relatively more abundant and commonly consumed. Recently, someone was diagnosed with thyroid nodules and assumed it was due to excessive salt intake. As a result, their family has forbidden them from eating river shrimp. So, can people with thyroid nodules eat river shrimp?

Can People with Thyroid Nodules Eat River Shrimp?

People with thyroid nodules can moderately consume river shrimp. However, they should pay attention to foods high in iodine, such as seaweed, kelp, and other seafood, and reduce their intake. Spicy and irritating foods should also be limited. The majority of clinically detected thyroid nodules are benign. If there are no clinical symptoms, regular monitoring may be an appropriate approach. During observation, dietary habits should be carefully managed. If the nodule suddenly increases in size, shows signs of malignancy, or causes significant symptoms, surgical treatment may be considered.

First, increase consumption of iodine-rich foods such as kelp, seaweed, laver, scallops, jellyfish, sea cucumber, soft-shelled turtle, etc. Second, include foods that help resolve masses and reduce swelling, such as water caltrop, rape seed oil, mustard greens, and kiwifruit. Additionally, consume more immune-boosting foods like shiitake mushrooms, mushrooms, walnuts, coix seed (Job's tears), red dates, and fresh fruits.

Avoid the following: smoking and alcohol; spicy and irritating foods such as onion, chili peppers, pepper, cinnamon, etc.; and avoid greasy and fried foods. We hope this answer is helpful to you. Wishing you good health and happiness!
