Can you get reinfected with influenza A after recovering?
It is possible to be reinfected with influenza A after recovery. Following recovery from influenza A, the body develops corresponding antibodies that help prevent reinfection; however, these antibodies cannot completely eliminate the risk of being infected again. Nevertheless, the likelihood of developing severe influenza during a second infection is relatively low.
Influenza A is an acute respiratory infectious disease caused by infection with the influenza A virus. It primarily spreads through respiratory droplets, but transmission can also occur via contact with respiratory secretions, bodily fluids from infected individuals or carriers, or contaminated objects. After infection with the influenza A virus, common symptoms include chills, fever, sore throat, cough, sputum production, muscle aches, fatigue, and weakness. It may also cause gastrointestinal symptoms such as vomiting and diarrhea.
1. Because the protection provided by current inactivated influenza vaccines is limited in duration, annual vaccination is necessary.
2. Maintain good ventilation in your environment. Frequently ventilate homes and workplaces to reduce the concentration of bacteria and viruses indoors and ensure fresh air.
3. Practice good personal hygiene by developing healthy habits such as washing hands frequently, bathing regularly, avoiding sharing towels, drinking glasses, and other personal items, and refraining from spitting in public places to prevent contact transmission of the influenza virus.
4. Maintain a balanced and nutritious diet with regular meals, drink plenty of water, avoid smoking, and limit alcohol consumption. Ensure adequate sleep and avoid excessive fatigue. Strengthen physical exercise to enhance the body's resistance.
