Introduction
Eating red-fleshed dragon fruit may cause diarrhea, possibly due to the low temperature of the fruit irritating the gastrointestinal tract. Consuming a large amount of dragon fruit at once may lead to indigestion and result in diarrhea. If the red-fleshed dragon fruit has spoiled or the tools used to handle it were not properly disinfected, acute gastroenteritis may occur, leading to diarrhea after eating the fruit.

Eating red-fleshed dragon fruit and subsequently experiencing diarrhea is usually caused by dietary irritation, indigestion, acute gastroenteritis, or similar reasons.

1. Dietary Irritation

Diarrhea after eating red-fleshed dragon fruit may occur if the fruit has been refrigerated or frozen. Its low temperature can irritate the gastrointestinal tract, leading to reduced digestive function and resulting in diarrhea.

2. Indigestion

Consuming a large amount of dragon fruit at once may lead to excessive intake of dietary fiber, overburdening the intestinal digestive system. This can cause indigestion and diarrhea, explaining why some people experience diarrhea after eating red-fleshed dragon fruit.

3. Acute Gastroenteritis

If the red-fleshed dragon fruit is spoiled or the tools used to handle it are not properly disinfected, individuals may become infected with intestinal pathogens such as Salmonella or Vibrio parahaemolyticus, leading to acute gastroenteritis and resulting in diarrhea after consumption.

For mild cases of diarrhea after eating red-fleshed dragon fruit, symptoms can be relieved through general measures such as drinking more water and maintaining a light diet. If diarrhea is severe, medications such as loperamide or montmorillonite should be used under medical guidance to suppress intestinal motility and alleviate symptoms.
