In general, pregnant women in the late stages of pregnancy can occasionally sleep on their right side. Pregnant women should avoid maintaining only one sleeping position and should choose a comfortable lateral position according to their preference. However, it is generally recommended that pregnant women sleep on their left side. This is mainly because the inferior vena cava in the human abdominal cavity is located toward the right side, and during pregnancy, the uterus typically rotates slightly to the right. In late pregnancy, the uterus becomes significantly enlarged.

Prolonged right-side sleeping may lead to fetal hypoxia.

It is recommended that pregnant women in late pregnancy choose the most comfortable sleeping position, alternating between left and right side-lying occasionally, but avoiding lying flat on the back. Appropriate exercise during late pregnancy can be beneficial for labor. Additionally, pregnant women in this stage may experience poor appetite; they can opt for liquid or semi-liquid foods, eat small meals frequently, and ensure balanced nutrition to provide sufficient energy and nutrients for both mother and baby.
