Introduction
Facial twitching on one side is generally caused by physiological factors, epilepsy, or hemifacial spasm. If a patient experiences twitching on one side of the face due to certain physiological factors, special treatment is usually not required. However, focal seizures in patients with epilepsy may also lead to unilateral facial twitching. In patients with hemifacial spasm, involuntary twitching on one side of the face commonly occurs.

Facial twitching on one side is usually caused by physiological factors, epilepsy, hemifacial spasm, or other reasons. It is recommended that patients seek timely medical evaluation and diagnosis at a hospital and receive appropriate treatment under a doctor's guidance.

1. Physiological factors: Facial twitching on one side may result from certain physiological causes, such as high levels of stress or sudden stress responses. Once emotional stability is restored, the twitching symptoms typically resolve gradually and generally do not require specific treatment.

2. Epilepsy: Focal seizures in patients with epilepsy may also cause twitching on one side of the face, involuntary muscle jerking, and in some cases may progress to generalized convulsions. Severe episodes might also involve loss of consciousness and foaming at the mouth. Patients can be treated with antiepileptic medications such as carbamazepine tablets under medical supervision.

3. Hemifacial spasm: Patients with hemifacial spasm may experience involuntary twitching on one side of the face during an episode, with symptoms potentially spreading gradually across the entire facial musculature. Hemifacial spasm is commonly associated with compression or mechanical irritation of the facial nerve. Treatment options include oxcarbazepine or carbamazepine tablets under a doctor’s guidance. If these are ineffective, local injections of botulinum toxin type A may be considered.
