Why does a pregnant woman get diarrhea after eating peaches?
Diarrhea usually refers to loose or watery stools. Diarrhea in pregnant women after eating peaches may be related to factors such as excessive consumption, unclean peaches, or weak gastrointestinal function.
1. Excessive consumption
Peaches are considered cooling in nature. If a pregnant woman eats too many peaches at once, it may easily disrupt intestinal function and increase intestinal motility, leading to diarrhea.
2. Unclean peaches
If a pregnant woman does not wash the peach properly before eating, pesticide residues or dust on the skin can enter the intestines and cause gastroenteritis, which may also lead to diarrhea.
3. Weak gastrointestinal function
If a pregnant woman has a naturally weak digestive system, consuming a large amount of peaches at once may stimulate intestinal motility and result in diarrhea.
When diarrhea occurs during pregnancy, if symptoms are mild, they can be relieved by drinking more warm water or applying a warm compress (such as a hot water bottle) to the abdomen. However, if diarrhea is severe, prompt medical attention is necessary, and anti-diarrheal medication—such as montmorillonite powder—should be taken under a doctor's guidance.
