What does it mean to always feel nauseous?
Constant nausea may be caused by pregnancy reactions, reflux esophagitis, gastritis, or other reasons. It is recommended to seek medical attention at a hospital to determine the specific cause.
1. Pregnancy Reactions
In early pregnancy, hormonal changes—particularly in estrogen and progesterone—can lead to pregnancy-related symptoms, including persistent nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and reduced food intake.
2. Reflux Esophagitis
Poor dietary habits, excessive body weight, heavy physical labor, and similar factors can weaken the esophagus's ability to push food downward or cause relaxation of the lower esophageal sphincter, potentially leading to reflux esophagitis. This condition often results in chronic nausea, heartburn, and acid regurgitation.
3. Gastritis
Long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) or infection with Helicobacter pylori can increase stomach acid production or reduce protective mucus in the stomach lining. When excess acid damages the gastric mucosa, gastritis may develop. In some cases, gastritis causes no noticeable symptoms initially, but as inflammation progresses, it may lead to persistent nausea, stomach pain, bloating, and loss of appetite.
