What should I do if someone has a mental health problem?
Mental disorders require treatment based on identifying the underlying cause, after which targeted therapy can be provided. If experiencing mental disturbances, one should seek medical evaluation. Typically, examinations such as brain MRI, electroencephalogram (EEG), electrocardiogram (ECG), and blood tests are needed.
1. Congenital factors
If conditions such as schizophrenia are caused by genetic or social environmental factors, treatment generally involves taking appropriate medications under a doctor's guidance.
2. Disease-induced causes
When mental disturbances result from certain illnesses—such as encephalitis or cerebrovascular disease—the primary disease must be treated, along with medication to improve psychiatric symptoms.
3. Stress-induced causes
If the condition is triggered by prolonged excessive stress, medications that help regulate emotions may be necessary. Additionally, adjusting one’s mindset is important. This could include traveling, participating in group activities, or practicing meditation. For meditation, lie down or sit quietly in a peaceful place, try to clear your mind, reflect on what you truly desire, and achieve a meditative mental state.
It is recommended during treatment to adjust personal routines: avoid staying up late, ensure adequate sleep, and appropriately reduce workload to prevent excessive fatigue from worsening symptoms.
