Introduction

Under normal circumstances, excessive sweating can be treated with moxibustion at acupoints such as Zusanli (ST36), Guanyuan (CV4), Hegu (LI4), Yinxu (HT6), and Fuliu (KI7). Specific details are as follows:

1. Zusanli (ST36)

Located on the outer side of the lower leg, 3 cun below the outer knee depression, and 1 cun lateral to the anterior border of the tibia. Moxibustion at Zusanli helps strengthen the spleen qi and promote recovery of the body's vital energy.

2. Guanyuan (CV4)

Located in the lower abdomen along the anterior midline of the body, 3 cun below the navel. Excessive sweating is commonly attributed to qi deficiency. Moxibustion at Guanyuan can help tonify qi, thereby alleviating symptoms of qi deficiency.

3. Hegu (LI4)

Located on the back of the hand between the first and second metacarpal bones, at the midpoint of the second metacarpal bone on its radial side. Moxibustion at Hegu can calm the mind, relieve pain, unblock meridians, and treat conditions such as spontaneous sweating, night sweats, fever, and headaches.

4. Yinxu (HT6)

Located 0.5 cun above the distal palmar wrist crease, on the radial margin of the tendon of the flexor carpi ulnaris. Moxibustion at Yinxu can clear orifices, remove heat, nourish yin, and subdue hyperactive yang, thus helping prevent frequent sweating.

5. Fuliu (KI7)

Located on the inner side of the lower leg, 2 cun above the tip of the medial malleolus, anterior to the Achilles tendon. Moxibustion at Fuliu can induce sweating to resolve exterior conditions, warm yang, and promote diuresis, thereby treating symptoms such as spontaneous sweating, night sweats, edema, and abdominal distension.

It should be noted that patients should seek treatment at a qualified medical institution and receive moxibustion under the guidance of a professional physician to avoid adverse effects. If any discomfort occurs during moxibustion, medical attention should be sought promptly.
