Can Bacillus be used at high temperatures?
Bacillus usually refers to Bacillus licheniformis, which generally should not be used under high temperatures.
Bacillus licheniformis is a digestive medication clinically used to treat abnormal conditions such as diarrhea, chronic enteritis, and acute enteritis caused by bacterial or fungal infections. It also has certain preventive effects against gastrointestinal flora imbalance due to other causes. Since Bacillus licheniformis is a live bacterial preparation, it should not be exposed to high temperatures during use. For example, the water temperature should not exceed 40°C, and the medication should not be stored in excessively hot environments. High water or environmental temperatures may inactivate the live bacteria due to heat, thereby diminishing or eliminating the drug's therapeutic effect. Therefore, Bacillus licheniformis generally cannot be used under high-temperature conditions.
When using Bacillus licheniformis, patients should also avoid taking it concurrently with antimicrobial agents, as this may reduce its effectiveness. To ensure optimal therapeutic outcomes, patients should space the administration of these two types of medications at least three hours apart.
