Which medicine is effective for a pulled muscle in the arm?
The strained tendon in the arm should be treated with medication under the guidance of a professional physician. Commonly used medications include Cao Wu Jia Su tablets, Huli San capsules, and Panlongqi tablets, which are effective in reducing swelling and pain, promoting blood circulation, and removing blood stasis.
Treatment primarily involves the use of blood-activating and stasis-resolving medications, administered both externally and orally, to promote the resolution of injury, dissipate bruising and swelling in the affected arm area, and facilitate tissue recovery, thereby achieving full recovery from the tendon strain.
However, while using medications, it is essential to avoid early weight-bearing or excessive flexion and extension movements of the affected arm to prevent overloading the injured tendon, which could worsen swelling and pain and delay healing. Additionally, within the first 24 hours after the tendon strain, cold compress therapy should be applied to reduce pain at the injury site and prevent worsening swelling, thus avoiding delayed recovery.
If pain persists for an extended period without improvement, we recommend visiting a hospital for further evaluation—such as X-ray, CT, or MRI scans—to check for any organic bone abnormalities or severe damage to muscles, nerves, blood vessels, and other tissues. If significant injuries are detected, additional treatment will be required.
