Introduction
In general, fever refers to an elevated body temperature. Feeling cold without fever during summer may be caused by factors such as low room temperature, insufficient qi and blood, wind-cold感冒 (common cold due to wind and cold), heatstroke, or kidney yang deficiency. Patients should follow medical advice and take medications accordingly. Prolonged exposure to air-conditioned rooms with low temperatures can lead to significant chilling, resulting in shivering without fever. It is recommended to maintain a moderate room temperature.

Generally speaking, fever refers to an elevated body temperature. Feeling cold without actual fever during summer may be caused by factors such as low room temperature, insufficient qi and blood, wind-cold感冒 (common cold due to exposure to cold), heatstroke, or kidney yang deficiency. Patients should follow medical advice and use medications accordingly. Specific analyses are as follows:

1. Low Room Temperature

If one stays in an air-conditioned room for a prolonged period with very low indoor temperature, the body may become chilled, leading to shivering and feeling cold without developing a fever. It is recommended to maintain a moderate air conditioning temperature.

2. Insufficient Qi and Blood

Deficiency of qi and blood often correlates with emotional fluctuations, which can easily reduce appetite and indirectly impair spleen and stomach function, resulting in inadequate qi and blood. Patients may experience numbness in hands and feet, fatigue, weakness, and a persistent sensation of cold. Under a doctor's guidance, patients may take herbal medicines such as Ba Zhen Granules or Ren Shen Gui Pi Wan to replenish qi and blood.

3. Wind-Cold Common Cold

Exposure to fans or air conditioning may prevent sweat from being properly expelled, triggering symptoms of a common cold. A hospital visit for further diagnosis is advised. Under medical supervision, patients may take medications that dispel wind and cold, such as Xiao Chai Hu Granules or Anti-Viral Oral Liquid, to improve their condition.

4. Heatstroke

High-temperature environments can easily trigger heatstroke. In the early stages of heatstroke, individuals may experience chills and shivering despite no fever. Promptly moving away from the hot environment and replenishing lost fluids can help alleviate symptoms.

5. Kidney Yang Deficiency

Chronic conditions such as asthma or chronic cough, if prolonged, may damage internal organs and lead to kidney yang deficiency. Symptoms include lower back and knee pain, increased frequency of nighttime urination, and a constant feeling of coldness. Patients should promptly follow a physician’s instructions and use medications such as You Gui Wan or Jin Kui Shen Qi Wan for treatment.

In addition, these symptoms may also be related to autonomic nervous system dysfunction. During medication, patients should pay attention to diet, avoid spicy and stimulating foods, and engage in appropriate physical exercise.
