Compound neomycin sulfate eye drops are a broad-spectrum ophthalmic antibacterial agent, with main ingredients including neomycin sulfate and dexamethasone sodium phosphate. They are primarily used to treat conditions such as keratitis, uveitis, acute iridocyclitis, glaucoma, and for managing mechanical or chemical eye injuries following corneal transplantation. These eye drops should be used cautiously under medical supervision and should not be used long-term. Prolonged use can damage the optic nerve, lead to visual field defects, cause posterior subcapsular lens opacities (cataracts), and in severe cases, result in fungal infections. Therefore, for nasal inflammation due to nasal discomfort, it is recommended to rinse the nasal cavity with normal saline and use appropriate anti-rhinitis medications such as budesonide spray or fluticasone propionate spray.
