Can frozen shoulder be cured?
Frozen shoulder generally refers to periarthritis of the shoulder, which is usually curable.
Periarthritis of the shoulder is a chronic inflammatory condition caused by damage to the shoulder joint capsule and surrounding ligaments, tendons, and synovial membranes due to various factors. This condition may result from degeneration of joint soft tissues or be associated with cervical spondylosis, biliary tract diseases, and other conditions that cause pain radiating to the shoulder. It typically presents as shoulder pain and restricted movement. The disease often has a certain degree of self-limitation and may resolve spontaneously over time. However, if symptoms are severe, patients can take glucocorticoid medications under medical supervision to reduce inflammatory exudation and relieve pain. Commonly used drugs include prednisone acetate tablets and betamethasone tablets. If conservative treatment fails, surgical options such as shoulder joint release surgery may be considered to improve joint function and restore normal range of motion; in most cases, the condition can be cured.
If patients with severe symptoms do not receive timely treatment, recurrent episodes of arthritic pain and limited mobility may occur, affecting daily activities. However, it generally does not impact life expectancy.
