Is an ejection fraction of 49% severe?
A射血分数 of 49% indicates heart failure, although not very severe—only mild heart failure.
Ejection fraction refers to the percentage of stroke volume relative to the end-diastolic volume of the ventricle, with a normal range of 50–70%. Normally, left ventricular ejection fraction is ≥50%, and right ventricular ejection fraction is ≥40%. Values below these thresholds suggest impaired cardiac function. Ejection fraction can be measured via echocardiography and is one of the key indicators for classifying types of heart failure.
An ejection fraction between 40% and 50% generally indicates mild reduction in left ventricular systolic function. If accompanied by symptoms such as shortness of breath or reduced exercise tolerance, it is referred to as heart failure with mildly reduced ejection fraction. Treatment may include, under medical supervision, oral administration of cardiac glycosides such as digoxin tablets, along with diuretics like hydrochlorothiazide and spironolactone.
Patients with an ejection fraction of 49% are advised to get adequate rest, maintain a light diet, avoid greasy foods, consume more fresh fruits and vegetables, and follow appropriate medication regimens as directed by their physician.
