Symptoms and Treatment of Nasopharyngitis
The main symptoms of nasopharyngitis include sore throat and discomfort during swallowing. Clinical treatments primarily consist of medication and physical therapy.
1. Symptoms
Patients with nasopharyngitis may experience clinical symptoms such as throat pain, difficulty or discomfort when swallowing, local burning sensation, foreign body sensation, difficulty expectorating secretions, and dryness in the throat during the course of the illness.
2. Treatment
2.1 Medication
During the illness, patients may use chlorhexidine gluconate mouthwash, compound borax solution, or furacilin solution for mouth rinsing as directed by a physician. Taking vitamin A and vitamin C supplements as prescribed can promote the regeneration of pharyngeal mucosal epithelium.
2.2 Physical Therapy
As directed by a physician, physical therapies such as laser treatment or low-temperature plasma therapy may be used to improve conditions such as increased lymphoid follicles.
Patients with nasopharyngitis are advised to promptly visit the otorhinolaryngology department of a hospital for evaluation. Relevant examinations such as complete blood count and throat swab culture should be completed. Once the condition is clearly diagnosed, patients should begin treatment under medical guidance as soon as possible.
