Introduction
Massage techniques for relieving runny nose include stimulating the Yingxiang point, Fengchi point, and Taiyang point. The Taiyang point is located on the temple, in the depression about one finger's width posterior to the midpoint between the outer end of the eyebrow and the outer corner of the eye. The proper massage technique involves using the index or middle finger to perform circular kneading motions with comfortable pressure. This method helps clear the head and eyes, unblock meridians, and relieve pain.

Nasal discharge can be relieved through massage methods such as stimulating the Yingxiang point, Fengchi point, and Taiyang point.

1. Massaging the Yingxiang Point

Yingxiang is one of the acupoints in the human body, located beside the midpoint of the outer edge of the nostril, in the nasolabial groove. To locate this point, sit upright and use your finger to trace upward along the nasolabial groove. Massaging the Yingxiang point helps dispel wind, unblock meridians, open nasal passages, relieve congestion, and alleviate pain.

2. Massaging the Fengchi Point

The Fengchi point lies in the hollow beneath the occipital bone, at the upper ends of the trapezius and sternocleidomastoid muscles. This acupoint is highly effective for treating nasal discharge caused by colds. The massage technique involves gently circling the point with the index and middle fingers. It helps contain wind, expel external pathogens, relieve headaches and neck stiffness, treat colds, and dissipate heat due to wind invasion.

3. Massaging the Taiyang Point

The Taiyang point is located on the temple, in the depression about one finger-width posterior to the junction between the outer end of the eyebrow and the outer corner of the eye. The correct method is to use the index or middle finger to perform circular kneading motions, applying gentle pressure for comfort. This massage helps clear the head and eyes, unblock meridians, and relieve pain.

In addition, massaging the Hegu point on the hand may also help relieve nasal discharge; however, it is recommended to perform this under the guidance of a qualified professional.
