How to treat left heart dysfunction
Left heart dysfunction can be treated through general management, elimination of triggering factors, and medication therapy.
1. General Management
It is recommended to quit smoking and alcohol consumption, maintain a healthy body weight, and reduce risk factors for cardiac damage in daily life. Additionally, it is important to control hypertension and diabetes by adopting a low-salt, low-fat diet. Patients with severe heart failure should restrict their daily fluid intake. Appropriate rest helps reduce cardiac workload and allows the heart to recover.
2. Elimination of Triggering Factors
Identify and eliminate factors that may trigger heart dysfunction, such as controlling infections, treating arrhythmias, correcting anemia and electrolyte imbalances, and monitoring for complications such as pulmonary embolism.
3. Medication Therapy
Under a physician's guidance, medications such as diuretics and aldosterone receptor antagonists should be taken based on laboratory test results. These drugs can alleviate symptoms caused by left heart dysfunction, including chest tightness, shortness of breath, and dyspnea, and also help prevent episodes of heart failure.
