Introduction
Breast self-examination involves checking the appearance of the breasts and feeling for any abnormalities to determine whether a disease may be present. In most cases, individuals can perform a basic breast examination through visual inspection and palpation. If special conditions are suspected or a more detailed examination is desired, it is recommended to seek medical attention at a hospital.

Breast self-examination involves visually inspecting the breasts and feeling for any abnormalities to determine whether a medical condition may be present. The specific steps are as follows:

1. Undress in front of a mirror.

2. Observe whether the two breasts differ in size or shape, and check for asymmetry or areas that appear elevated or lowered.

3. Examine the nipples for inversion, redness, swelling, discharge, or cracked skin. Inspect the areola and breast skin for changes in color, lumps, or dimpling resembling an orange peel (peau d'orange).

4. Place one hand on your hip and use the other hand—coated with moisturizer or aloe gel—to examine the opposite breast. Gently feel the breast in a circular, clockwise motion from the outer areas toward the center. Use gentle pressure; avoid pinching or squeezing the breast tissue.

5. Use the pads of your fingers to detect any lumps, noting their size, location, and firmness.

In most cases, individuals can perform basic breast examinations using visual inspection and palpation. However, if unusual findings are detected or a more thorough evaluation is desired, it is recommended to consult a healthcare provider at a hospital.
