Care must be taken not to cut too deeply to avoid damaging the lingual veins or intrinsic tongue muscles. The incision is then sutured at the appropriate location.
After surgery, patients should rest adequately, avoid spicy foods, hot foods, and foods such as beef and mutton that may cause discomfort.
