How to read ovulation test strips: one line dark and one line light
Ovulation test strips determine whether ovulation occurs by measuring the level of luteinizing hormone (LH), with the intensity of the test line indicating the concentration of LH. A darker or lighter test line reflects higher or lower LH levels, respectively. The specific procedure is as follows:
1. First, confirm your menstrual cycle. Testing usually begins on the third day after menstruation ends.
2. Collect urine between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. in a clean urine cup.
3. Immerse the purchased test strip into the urine sample following the direction indicated by the arrow. After about three seconds, remove the strip and lay it flat. Wait 10–20 minutes (or within 30 minutes) to read the result. Results read after more than 30 minutes are no longer valid.
4. The ovulation test strip displays two lines: one control line and one test line. If the test line is darker than the control line, it indicates that ovulation will occur within 24–48 hours. Having intercourse during this period can increase the chances of pregnancy. If the test line is lighter than the control line, the result is negative, indicating that you are not yet in your ovulation phase.
5. Finally, it is recommended that women visit a hospital for a formal examination to confirm pregnancy.
