Can ovulation test strips detect early pregnancy?
Ovulation test strips cannot detect early pregnancy. If early pregnancy testing is needed, it is recommended to use pregnancy test strips or visit a hospital for relevant examinations to confirm.
Ovulation test strips are used for external detection of the ovulation period in women. They predict ovulation by measuring the peak level of luteinizing hormone (LH), and are suitable for approximately 30% of women. They can serve as an auxiliary method for clinical ovulation monitoring. Generally, ovulation test strips are primarily intended to predict whether ovulation occurs and should not be used as a method to detect early pregnancy. Women who wish to test for early pregnancy should use pregnancy test strips. Typically, a woman applies her urine to the test strip's sample well; if a colored line appears only in the control region, it indicates a negative result (not pregnant); if a distinct colored line appears in the test region, it indicates a positive result (pregnant).
It should be noted that pregnancy test strips are only a preliminary screening tool and may yield false-positive or false-negative results. For confirmation, individuals should visit a hospital for definitive tests such as B-mode ultrasound and blood tests.
