Precautions for Removing an Intrauterine Device (IUD)
After removal of an intrauterine device (IUD), attention should be paid to daily rest, diet, and personal hygiene. Rest in bed initially and avoid heavy physical labor. Eat easily digestible, nutritious foods. For personal hygiene, wash the external genitalia daily, keep undergarments clean, wear pure cotton underwear, and avoid tight pants. When washing the external genital area, strictly follow medical instructions to add a designated cleansing solution, with specific steps as follows:
1. Read the instruction manual carefully and prepare the solution according to the specified ratio. Pour the prepared solution into a dedicated washing basin.
2. Wash your hands thoroughly, then use the prepared solution to clean the external genital area before adding warm water to the basin.
3. Clean the labia minora, anus, and surrounding areas in sequence, then thoroughly rinse with water. Gently dry with a clean towel, change into fresh underwear, and maintain local dryness and hygiene.
After IUD removal, monitor vaginal bleeding. It is normal to experience light vaginal bleeding for 3 to 7 days. However, if the bleeding exceeds the amount of a regular menstrual period, seek medical follow-up at a hospital.
