Endotoxin detection method
Endotoxin testing can be performed through routine blood tests and blood biochemical indicators. If no complications are found after examination, the patient's routine blood test results and biochemical indicators—such as liver and kidney function and blood glucose levels—will all be normal. Routine blood tests should be conducted at a formal medical facility, commonly using the fingertip blood collection method. The specific procedure is as follows:
1. Prior to testing, select the sides of the fingertip on the patient’s ring finger. A healthcare provider holds the collection site with one hand while using the other hand to take a medical cotton ball soaked in medical alcohol to disinfect the area. After disinfection, allow the site to air dry naturally or wipe it gently with a sterile swab.
2. Once the collection site is confirmed dry, the healthcare provider uses one hand to hold the lancet and quickly inserts it vertically into the skin to puncture it. With the other hand, firmly press around the site to express blood, then use a sterile cotton ball to wipe away the first drop of blood.
3. After removing the first drop, gently squeeze the outer side of the fingertip near the puncture site to facilitate the formation of a second blood drop. Finally, use a pipette to draw the blood sample into the tube for testing.
