Itchy throat after recovering from a positive COVID-19 test
Post-COVID recovery refers to the period after recovery from a novel coronavirus infection. If a patient experiences an itchy throat after recovery, it may be due to incomplete body recovery, common cold, bronchial asthma, or other factors. These conditions are generally difficult to resolve spontaneously and require timely medical evaluation and treatment with appropriate medications under a doctor's guidance.
1. Incomplete Recovery
Novel coronavirus infection may cause symptoms such as fatigue, fever, dry cough, reduced or lost sense of smell, and diarrhea. The virus can invade the respiratory tract and potentially cause respiratory damage. If the respiratory system has not fully recovered after the infection, patients may experience an itchy throat. It is recommended to drink plenty of warm water and, under medical supervision, take medications such as Pudilan Oral Liquid or Xiguashuang Throat Lozenges for treatment.
2. Common Cold
Although the novel coronavirus causes less severe physical damage, it can still impair the patient's immune function, leading to lowered immunity. If the patient fails to stay warm after recovery, resulting in chilling, or if the respiratory tract becomes infected by other viruses, an itchy throat may occur. Under a doctor’s guidance, patients may take medications such as Lianhua Qingwen Capsules, Siji Kangbingdu Mixture, or Ribavirin Tablets to relieve discomfort.
3. Bronchial Asthma
If a patient has pre-existing bronchial asthma, a novel coronavirus infection might exacerbate the condition. Since the virus invades the respiratory tract, it may trigger respiratory symptoms such as dry cough and itchy throat, causing significant discomfort. It is advisable for patients to follow medical instructions and use medications like Beclomethasone Dipropionate Aerosol or Budesonide Aerosol to alleviate symptoms.
