What body parts are located on both sides of the navel?
The left and right abdomen are located on either side of the navel, containing organs such as the colon, jejunum, and ileum.
1. Colon
The colon is situated in the left and right abdominal regions. It consists mainly of the ascending colon, transverse colon, descending colon, and sigmoid colon. The colon secretes alkaline substances that protect the intestinal mucosa, lubricate the intestines, and promote peristalsis of food residue. It also helps regulate electrolytes in the blood, such as sodium.
2. Jejunum
The jejunum is the segment following the duodenum of the small intestine and forms part of the small intestine. Its upper end begins at the duodenojejunal flexure in the left abdomen.
3. Ileum
The ileum is primarily distributed in the umbilical region and right lower abdomen. It is a portion of the small intestine connected to both the jejunum and the cecum, linking to the large intestine.
In addition, on either side of the navel are located the left and right kidneys, ureters, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix, and other organs. If a patient experiences discomfort near the navel, they should first roughly identify the cause based on the specific location of the discomfort, then visit a hospital for further examination and treatment.
