Introduction
Abdominal bloating and pain on both sides accompanied by excessive flatulence are usually not normal and may be caused by conditions such as acute gastroenteritis, pelvic inflammatory disease, or chronic colitis. Patients are advised to seek timely medical evaluation at a hospital for further examination and to receive appropriate treatment based on the underlying cause, including medications or surgery if necessary. Patients should ensure adequate rest, maintain sufficient sleep, and avoid overexertion and strenuous physical activity.

Patients are advised to seek timely medical evaluation at a hospital for further examination and receive appropriate treatment based on the underlying cause, including medication or surgery.

1. Acute Gastroenteritis

Acute gastroenteritis may cause symptoms such as loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, bloating, and general weakness. Some patients may also experience distending pain on either side of the lower abdomen along with increased gas passage. Patients can take medications such as Bifidobacterium Trilive Capsules (enteric-coated) or Hyoscine Hydrobromide Tablets as directed by a physician to relieve these discomforts.

2. Pelvic Inflammatory Disease

If a patient neglects local hygiene or develops a bacterial infection in the pelvic area, pelvic inflammatory disease may occur, leading to lower abdominal pain, fever, increased vaginal discharge, tenderness and distension upon pressing either side of the lower abdomen, and excessive flatulence. It is recommended that patients follow medical advice to use medications such as Ceftriaxone Sodium Injection or Gentamicin Sulfate Injection. In severe cases, surgical removal of the affected adnexa may be necessary.

3. Chronic Colitis

Chronic colitis may be triggered by factors such as allergies or infections, causing inflammatory edema and ulcers in the colon, sigmoid colon, and rectum. This leads to bilateral abdominal distension and pain, along with increased flatulence. Patients may take antibiotic medications such as Norfloxacin Capsules or Ciprofloxacin Tablets as prescribed to alleviate symptoms. In some cases, surgical interventions such as colectomy or ileostomy may be required.

Patients are advised to visit a hospital promptly for diagnostic tests such as hysteroscopy, stool examinations, and others to confirm the diagnosis. They should ensure adequate rest, maintain sufficient sleep, and avoid overexertion and strenuous physical activity.
