Introduction
After varicose vein surgery, excessive physical activity should be avoided. Procedures such as radiofrequency ablation, laser treatment, minimally invasive techniques, and vein stripping primarily aim to remove or occlude the great saphenous vein. Occlusion of this vein induces localized inflammatory reactions; excessive activity increases mechanical stress on the leg, thereby exacerbating symptoms.

Procedures such as radiofrequency ablation, laser treatment, minimally invasive techniques, and vein stripping primarily aim to remove or occlude the great saphenous vein. Local inflammation commonly occurs following occlusion of this vessel, and excessive activity increases mechanical stress on the leg.
The entire body weight—often over 100 pounds—is borne by the legs; consequently, local venous structures experience increased mechanical load. Excessive activity postoperatively may therefore exacerbate bruising and swelling in the affected leg.
Patients are generally advised to limit physical activity for the first two days following surgery. Additionally, wearing compression stockings is recommended to support recovery.
