Introduction
Chlortetracycline hydrochloride eye ointment should not be applied to the lips. This medication is used to treat bacterial conjunctivitis, hordeolum, and bacterial eyelid infections. It is also somewhat effective in treating trachoma. The drug is intended for ocular use only; applying it inside the eyelid allows it to exert its therapeutic effect. Applying it to the lips will not provide adequate efficacy and may instead irritate the lips, causing pain.
