Introduction
Persistent coughing with shortness of breath may be caused by chronic bronchitis resulting from factors such as increased environmental pollution, frequent smoking, or pathogen infection. It could also result from climate changes, combined with poor air quality, inadequate ventilation, and excessive exposure to microorganisms, leading to respiratory infections such as bronchopneumonia. Often, it is caused by infection with the novel coronavirus, resulting in COVID-19.

Persistent coughing with shortness of breath may be caused by chronic bronchitis, bronchopneumonia, novel coronavirus infection, or other reasons.

  1. Chronic bronchitis

Chronic bronchitis may result from factors such as worsening environmental pollution, frequent smoking, or pathogen infection, leading to impaired respiratory defense function, which in turn causes symptoms such as severe coughing and wheezing.

  2. Bronchopneumonia

Changes in weather, combined with poor air quality, inadequate ventilation, and excessive exposure to microorganisms, may lead to respiratory system infections causing bronchopneumonia, resulting in symptoms such as coughing and difficulty breathing.

  3. Novel coronavirus infection

Infection with the novel coronavirus typically leads to novel coronavirus infection, causing discomfort such as difficulty breathing and severe coughing.

Additionally, conditions such as lung cancer may also cause similar symptoms. Timely medical evaluation to determine the underlying cause and condition based on symptoms and test results is beneficial for symptom relief.
