How long does it take to recover from a torn arm tendon?
A ruptured tendon in the arm may take approximately 2 to 3 months to recover, with the exact duration depending on individual healing progress.
Rupture of the arm tendon may be caused by sudden changes in body position or long-term overuse. Patients may experience restricted movement in extension and flexion and should receive prompt surgical treatment. Surgery helps reattach the torn tendon, followed by external immobilization using a plaster splint.
If an individual has good physical health and a less severe condition, recovery may occur within about 2 months. However, for those with poorer physical condition or more serious injuries, recovery may take around 3 months or even longer—sometimes over a year. It is recommended that patients perform appropriate rehabilitation exercises after the removal of the cast to gradually restore tendon function to normal levels.
In addition, after tendon rupture, patients must ensure adequate rest and avoid heavy physical labor. Attention should also be paid to caring for the affected limb, and the diet should include calcium-rich foods such as shrimp skins, milk, and similar items.
