Is a titer of 1:1 contagious?
A syphilis titer of 1:1 generally indicates serofixation, which may still be infectious, although the infectivity is relatively low. Antibiotic treatment should be administered under a doctor's guidance.
A syphilis titer of 1:1 usually suggests that syphilis has not been completely cured and further treatment is needed. Syphilis is typically caused by factors such as unprotected sexual intercourse, low immune function, or infection through wounds. Unprotected sexual contact is the primary cause of syphilis infection. The disease is highly contagious and usually develops 7 to 50 days after infection. Prolonged熬夜 (staying up late), resulting in weakened immunity, can also increase susceptibility to syphilis if one comes into contact with secretions from an infected individual.
The syphilis pathogen can enter the body through small breaks in the skin or mucous membranes. After a period of incubation, the bacteria multiply and begin causing symptoms. A syphilis titer of 1:1 indicates a very low titer and is not yet severe. Treatment under medical supervision, often involving intramuscular injections, is recommended. Commonly used medications include benzathine penicillin and erythromycin.
In addition, syphilis can also be transmitted through contact with personal items used by infected individuals, such as clothing, bedding, and towels.
