Rheumatoid Arthritis Treatment Methods
Rheumatoid arthritis can be treated with general management, medication, comprehensive therapies, and other treatment approaches.
1. General Management
During the acute phase, patients should rest in bed and immobilize affected joints to prevent further joint damage. During the recovery phase, physical rehabilitation and joint function exercises can be performed under a doctor's guidance.
2. Medication
Commonly used medications for rheumatoid arthritis include nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), biologic agents, and conventional disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). For example, ibuprofen tablets are NSAIDs primarily used to relieve arthritis symptoms. Conventional DMARDs such as methotrexate tablets and leflunomide tablets can slow down or control disease progression. If symptoms do not improve, biologic agents such as rituximab may be added. All medications should be used under medical supervision.
3. Immunopurification Therapy
In addition to medication, immunopurification therapy can be administered under a doctor’s guidance to rapidly remove immune complexes, immunoglobulins, autoantibodies, and other harmful substances from the body.
Moreover, severe cases may require surgical intervention. Patients are advised to keep warm in daily life and consume foods rich in high calories and high nutrition.
